| Reliables Drop Rams, 4-2, with Late Score | Rakisuta got a terrific performance from pitcher Yoshimatsu Shiina, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hosho Reliables. Hosho won the Nagoya Minami Stadium contest, 4-2. Shiina threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Hosho has an impressive 24-11 record.
Had Micho Nakajima not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Nakajima hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Reliables.
Nakajima called the win "a team effort."
