Bears Come Up Short at Kyoto, 3-2
Yamada Yamanaka pitched well, but his team, the Sapporo Bears, still dropped a 3-2 decision to the Kyoto Owls at Owls Park. The winning pitcher was Michinaga Sekiguchi. His record now stands at 1-3. The right-hander went 8 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Owls. The Owls now have a record of 17-16 with the win over Sapporo.

The Owls got a big at-bat from center fielder Minehiro Smith. For the game, Smith went 1-2 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Kyoto a 3-2 lead.
