| Bears Winners, 5-3, Over Kingfishers | The umbrellas came out during the Sapporo-Yokohama contest at Kanagawa Stadium.
Behind the hitting of Hidetsugu Yoshida, the Sapporo Bears stopped the Yokohama Kingfishers, 5-3. Yoshida was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for the Bears. Senichi Soga earned the save for Sapporo, his 9th.
Sapporo took a 5-3 lead on Yoshida's 9th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Hirotsugu Sasaki in the top of the eighth, propelled Sapporo to the win.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Yoshida said.
The Bears win now puts them at 34-20.
