Win Goes to Owls in Tight Contest
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Kyoto Owls and Yokohama Kingfishers.

The Kyoto Owls beat the Yokohama Kingfishers by a score of 5-4. Kyoto shortstop Bungo Arai deserved the lion's share of the credit. Arai went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs for the Owls. Kyoto reliever Kenshin Kon picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Yoisuke Nishizawa absorbed the loss.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Toyohiro Wada? The 26-year old first baseman Wada stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Kyoto up, 5-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Kyoto manager Tomoya Nagao. "It's usually not just one thing."

The Owls bumped their record to 20-9 with this latest triumph.
