| Lancers Slap 3-1 Loss on Chicago | In a tight tilt between the Detroit Lancers and the Chicago Blues, John Humphreys was the deciding factor. The Detroit right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Humphreys, who leads the UL with a 0.95 WHIP, went the distance for Detroit. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. Detroit has now won 3 straight, while the Blues have lost 3 in a row.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Wayne Bernhart to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Lancers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"John is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Detroit manager Frank McGrath.
