| Dominant Performance by Watanabe in Yokohama Win | In a tension-filled contest between the Yokohama Kingfishers and the Hosho Reliables, pitcher Kakuro Watanabe was superb. The Yokohama right-hander, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1974 draft, spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Picking up his 3rd save was former first round draft pick Taishi Yoshimura. With the loss, Hosho is 19-9.
Watanabe, the winner, is now 1-0, after putting the clamps on the Hosho offense. In 8 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 3 hits, while collecting 7 Ks.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Watanabe.
