Newberry Holds Cleveland Scoreless
The Cleveland Foresters were almost helpless in their 4-0 loss to the Detroit Dynamos and hurler Claude Newberry. Newberry kept the Foresters confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Newberry," Cleveland manager Ned Wiggins said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 24-year-old right-hander had 2 walks and 1 strikeout in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Newberry said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Newberry is batting at a .488 pace this season, picking up 20 hits in 41 at-bats with 1 home run, 14 RBIs and 14 runs scored.
