Left-hander Robert Mitchell mesmerized the Baltimore Cannons while leading the Pittsburgh Mechanics to a 4-0 victory. The winner was Mitchell. He threw 8.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Jim Roseman. The victory gives Pittsburgh a record of 30-24.

Jack Linder came through for Pittsburgh when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike fastball to center field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.

"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Pittsburgh skipper Jim Clement.
