| Eagles Defeat Dynamos, 5-2 | The Washington Eagles faced a tough opponent in Detroit pitcher Pedro Castro, but found a way to pull out the victory at Columbia Stadium by a final score of 5-2 in 11 innings. Castro went 8.2 innings and allowed 1 run. The Eagles improved their record to 53-72 by beating Detroit.
The decisive blow was delivered by Howdy Oakes in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a grand slam home run off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Richard Elk to win the game for Washington. The home crowd went nuts.
"That last inning was electric," Oakes said.
