| Kings Deal Imperials 6-1 Setback | The Seattle Kings picked up a win at Dyckman Stadium, knocking off the New York Imperials, 6-1. Starting pitcher Swede Hawkins played a key role in the triumph. Hawkins, the winner, moves to 14-8. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The Kings improved their record to 76-49 by beating New York.
Seattle won the game in part because of Hank Williams. The first baseman ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Kings ahead, 5-0. For the game, Williams had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We took home the win," said Williams. "What's not to like?" | |
