| Bears Suffer One-Run Loss at Hosho | Hosho Reliables starter Fumimaro Yamauchi was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Sapporo Bears, 3-2. Motomu Taira earned the save, his 8th, for the Reliables. Hosho, now 16-8, has played well in the early going.
Kiyoemon Hayashida drove in one run for Hosho. The 36-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Tomochika Takada. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
Yamauchi said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
