The Kyoto Owls dealt the Sapporo Bears a 6-4 loss at Sapporo Stadium. Minehiro Smith, who is tied for 10th in the EL with a .852 OPS, was 3-3 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Kenshin Kon got the save, the 4th for him this season. The loss makes Sapporo 11-8.

Kyoto used a clutch at-bat from Tamotsu Endo to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Owls ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Endo told the Kyoto Observer.
