| Kyoto Triumphs with Late Surge | The Sapporo Bears and Kyoto Owls riveted fans at Owls Park.
Starting pitcher Seishiro Kikuchi pitched well enough to help the Kyoto Owls beat the Sapporo Bears, 6-3. The winner in relief was Naizen Sano. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2.
Kyoto took a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Naonobu Nishio hit a clutch grand slam home run to bring Owls fans to their feet.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Nishio.
Today's win puts Kyoto at 19-23, while Sapporo falls to 28-15.
