| Kingfishers Defeated, 5-3, After Sapporo Rallies | Spirited fans greeted the Yokohama Kingfishers for their clash with the Sapporo Bears.
The Bears grabbed a win, 5-3, at Kanagawa Stadium, overcoming a fine effort from Yokohama pitcher Fumimaro Yamauchi. Yamauchi went 6.2 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Tomochika Takada. He's now 2-0. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Bears.
Sapporo right fielder Ukyo Ota contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the eighth. With two down, he hit a changeup to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 16th hit of the season and put the Bears ahead, 5-3.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Ota said.
The loss drops Yokohama to 8-8.
