Owls Suffer 5-4 Loss to Reliables | Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Hosho Reliables and Kyoto Owls.
Due in large part to catcher Jokichi Kono, the Hosho Reliables sunk the Kyoto Owls, 5-4. Kono was 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Owls drop to 6-8, as their stumbling start to the 1961 season continues.
With Hosho leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Kono hit a 2-run single off Kyoto hurler Seishiro Kikuchi. It was the 12th hit of the season for Kono and put his team ahead, 5-2.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Kyoto manager Takejiro Yonemura. "The effort was great." | |
