| Owls Get Clutch Win, 2-1 | The Kyoto Owls converted a terrific effort from starter Seishiro Kikuchi into a win over the Hosho Reliables at Nagoya Minami Stadium. The Owls won the game by a final score of 2-1. Naizen Sano notched his 1st save of the season. With the win, Kyoto elevates its record to 6-7.
Kyoto used the timely hitting of Katsuki Taira to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Owls on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura. "The kind that burns a little inside."
