| Reliables Stay Hot With 1-0 Win | Kanda Stadium hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.
The Denki Dynamics wasted an inspired, 9-inning effort from starter Hisao Ibe, falling, 1-0, to the Hosho Reliables at Kanda Stadium. Hosho reliever Sho Sumi picked up the win. Hisao Ibe, who is tied for 6th in the EL in complete games with 2, took the loss for Denki. Picking up the save was seven-time All-Star Motomu Taira.
Hosho used the hitting of Billy McCullough to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Reliables on top, 1-0. For the game, McCullough had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Hosho manager Shun Kawamura.
The Reliables improved to a lofty 28-12.
