| Reliables 3-1 Victors Over Yokohama | In a low-scoring tilt between the Hosho Reliables and the Yokohama Kingfishers, former first round draft pick Naruto Noda was the difference-maker. The Hosho right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. In 8 innings, Noda surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. The Reliables, now 10-4, have hit the ground running this season.
Hank Dunham had a big 2-run home run for the Reliables in the bottom of the third inning. With Hosho leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Motokazu Oyama and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Reliables on top, 3-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Reliables manager Shun Kawamura, "I like our chances."
