| With 8-4 Win, Reliables Go to 5-5 | Though the conditions were not ideal, the Hosho Reliables and Yokohama Kingfishers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Hosho Reliables besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Yokohama shortstop Daijiro Sato by beating the Kingfishers, 8-4, at Nagoya Minami Stadium. Sato went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. Hosho pitcher Shinki Kimura earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Masatoshi Sakai suffered the loss.
In the bottom of the first, Hosho catcher Jokichi Kono had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Kono stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 2-1, Hosho. For the game, he went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Kono told the Hosho Times.
The loss puts Yokohama at 5-6.
