The Hosho Reliables faced a tough opponent in Sapporo pitcher Yamada Yamanaka, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Sapporo Stadium by a final score of 4-2. Yamanaka went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Takashi Masuda, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. The Reliables, now 6-2, have hit the ground running this season.

Yukio Watanabe delivered a big hit for Hosho. The first baseman drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Reliables ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.

After the game, Hosho manager Shun Kawamura applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
