| Tight Tilt Goes to Reliables, 4-3 | The Hosho Reliables put one in the win column with an opening day 4-3 triumph over the Denki Dynamics. The crowd at Nagoya Minami Stadium watched Shihei Saito put on a fine performance. Saito yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 1-0. Motomu Taira was credited with the save for Hosho, his 1st of the season.
Hosho pinch hitter Samba Nitta helped the Reliables go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Nitta hit a run-scoring single off Denki pitcher Atsumi Shibata.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Nitta. "And not try to do too much."
