Bears Lose Late, 3-1 | The Kyoto Owls and Sapporo Bears completed their game despite the rain.
In a tight affair between the Kyoto Owls and the Sapporo Bears, pitcher Isoroku Furuta was in the zone. The Kyoto left-hander helped his team win the game, 3-1. Furuta got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 5 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run.
The Owls got a big at-bat from third baseman Tomonori Shimada. For the game, Shimada was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Kyoto a 3-1 lead.
"The name on the front of this uniform is all that matters to me," Furuta told the Kyoto Today. "And padding the Kyoto win column."
