Wranglers Use Late Surge to Win
The Dallas Wranglers picked up a win at Norris Stadium, knocking off the Montreal Saints, 2-1. Starting pitcher Otey Stevens was a big reason why. Johnny Manning picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-4. Bob Nelson suffered the loss. After today's action, Dallas sits at 69-55, while Montreal falls to 60-64.

When he batted in the bottom of the ninth, Jim Thomson had a golden opportunity to change the game's outcome. Montreal pitcher Bob Nelson was determined not to let him. But with no outs, Thomson hit a sacrifice fly -- and the Wranglers had a suspense-filled triumph.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Stevens.
