| Hit Parade: Koenig Pops 5 Hits | Walt Koenig put on a hitting clinic at Riverside Stadium, spraying hits all over the ballpark and lashing New York pitchers for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the Baltimore Clippers, who still fell, 7-4.
"Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Koenig told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too."
Walt Koenig singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
Thus far this season, Koenig has hit .363 with no home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 16 times. | |
