Kansas City right fielder Lou Rush had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-4, to Los Angeles at Mavericks Stadium. Rush was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. John Herzog was credited with the save for Los Angeles, his 1st of the season. The loss puts Kansas City at 2-3.

Bob Griffin had a big 2-run double for the Stars in the top of the seventh inning. With Los Angeles leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Irv Hoops and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 5-0.

"We ground out the win," said Griffin. "That's all that matters."
