| Montreal Beaten, 5-1, by Toronto | The Toronto Wolves got a strong performance from pitcher Manny Espinosa, who stymied the Montreal offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Stade Montreal. Espinosa yielded 1 run over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 5, and struck out 3. His record improves to 1-0. The win gives Toronto a record of 3-2.
Toronto used a timely hit from Jackie Daniels to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Wolves ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Manny gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Toronto skipper Carl Evans.
