The Boston Beacons eked out a 3-2 win versus the Detroit Lancers at Beacon Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Austin Mayer. He was terrific. The winning pitcher was Mayer, now 2-0. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Earning his 1st save of the year was John Hicks.

Boston took a 3-2 lead on Owen Gill's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gill hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher John Humphreys visibly frustrated.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Gill.

The victory makes Boston 3-3.
