| Keystones Take Nail-Biter Over Pioneers | Broad Street Park was host to some intense drama.
Philadelphia starter Ellis Conlin put the St. Louis offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his fastball in leading the Keystones to a 2-1 win. James DeWeese claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-1.
The Keystones got a clutch hit from shortstop Al Roberts. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Keystones.
"You play a lot of one-run games," said Philadelphia skipper Dusty Morris, "and it seems there's one play somewhere in there that changes the game."
After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 29-22; St. Louis slips to 21-33.
