| Wolves Curb Cougars, 3-2 | The Toronto Wolves beat the Chicago Cougars, 3-2, at Cougars Park. The win was due in part to catcher Jess McPherson, who went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Don Bradner, who is tied for 7th in the CA with a 6.0 K/9 rate, was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Dick Miller earned the save, his 3rd, for the Wolves.
Toronto used a timely hit from Jackie Daniels to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Wolves ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Daniels told the Toronto Daily.
Their 54-69 record puts the Wolves last in the Continental Association East.
