Washington Eagles starter Bill Kelly pitched a strong game against the Los Angeles Suns at Columbia Stadium, leading the Eagles to victory, 5-3. The winning pitcher was Kelly, now 11-8. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. The Eagles improved to 60-65.

The Eagles got an important contribution from shortstop Al Marino, who in the bottom of the sixth hit a 2-2 slider to left for a 2-run double. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 2-0.
