Los Angeles wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Bob Hinzman, falling to the Boston Minutemen, 5-1. Hinzman threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Boston now sits at 46-72, while Los Angeles falls to 72-52.

Boston second baseman Charlie Hartsell contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a forkball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 119th hit of the season and put the Minutemen ahead, 3-1.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Hartsell.
