Jack Kotarski was masterful in helping the Atlanta Copperheads take down the St. Louis Pioneers, 7-1. Atlanta leads the Federal Association East by 31½ games.

Don Riley, who finished 5th in the FA in wins above replacement with 6.5 in 1972, helped out the Atlanta cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the first baseman drove in one run.
