New York Rallies for 2-1 Victory
Starting pitcher Clarence Reimer was a major factor in the 2-1 New York Gothams triumph over the Detroit Dynamos. Reimer, now 12-12, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Les Freedman finished the game for New York and earned his 5th save.

The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Frank Arnold came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Detroit pitcher Paul Anderson, he hit a 0-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 2-1.

"We scored one run," said Detroit manager Verlin Alexander. "You're not gonna get a lot of Ws scoring just one run."

The Gothams improved their record to 70-82 with the win over Detroit.
