5-2 Win Takes Cougars to 47-37 | The Chicago Cougars got a good effort from starter Roy Ellis in defeating the Cincinnati Cannons at Cougars Park. The final score was 5-2. Arch Wilson closed the door for Chicago, picking up his 5th save of the year. Chicago's record now stands at 47-37, placing them 4th in the Continental Association.
Had Tom Halliday not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Halliday hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cougars.
"Roy is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Chicago manager Buck Cuppett. | |
