Phelps Lifts Saints to 12-1 Triumph
Boosted by the 4-hit performance of Garland Phelps, who is a two-time All-Star, the Montreal Saints defeated the Cincinnati Cannons, 12-1. Montreal occupies 7th place in the Continental Association at 58-89.

Phelps had a key at-bat for Montreal in the bottom of the first. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 22nd double of the season and gave Montreal an early 2-0 lead.

Cincinnati manager Buddy Baumgart was on the defensive afterward. "You can go back and make us look as bad as you want to," he told a reporter, "and then I can throw more numbers at you and make us look better."
