| Cannons Win Thriller, 3-2 | Tice Memorial Stadium II was the site of a tense game between the Kansas City Mavericks and Cincinnati Cannons.
The Cincinnati Cannons had to overcome a fine effort from Kansas City pitcher Dave Dalton to win, 3-2, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Dalton went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. The second-place Cannons are 62-56.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 2-2, 31-year old catcher Pete Bruce won it for Cincinnati. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Bruce hit a first pitch fastball from Roy Miller for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 3-2 win.
"This was a gut-wrenching loss," said Kansas City manager Sakan Hashizume, "the kind that'll give you an ulcer." | |
