Sailors Rally to Nose Past Cleveland
Cleveland got a decent performance from pitcher Sonny Stoyer, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Francisco Sailors. San Francisco won the Forester Stadium contest, 4-3. Stoyer threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. San Francisco reliever Davey Chamberlain picked up the win, upping his record to 7-7. Johnny Ogden was saddled with the loss. Gary Pike nailed down the save.

San Francisco used a timely hit from former first round draft pick Ray Hughes to get the win. The pinch hitter delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sailors on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was huge.

"Banging out wins is what it's all about," said Hughes.

The win makes San Francisco 85-63.
