Warner Skunks Cougars
Floyd Warner led the Los Angeles Stars to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the Chicago Cougars at Bigsby Stadium.

"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Warner recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."

Warner yielded 5 hits and had 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in the standout performance.

"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Chicago manager Buck Cuppett said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."

This year, Warner has made 32 starts, thrown 229.1 innings, fanned 118 batters and walked 84. His won-lost record is 13-11 with a 4.67 ERA.
