Chiefs Upend Miners, 7-3 | Roy Brandt, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1958 draft, had a strong outing for the Chicago Chiefs against the Pittsburgh Miners at Fitzpatrick Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-3 win. The Chiefs saw their record improve to 62-56.
Chicago catcher Mickey Tucker contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the third. With two down, he hit a curveball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 55th hit of the season and put the Chiefs ahead, 3-2.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Tucker told the Chicago Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight." | |
