The Chicago Cougars earned a win at Cougars Park, stopping the New York Imperials, 2-1. Starting pitcher Roger Alford played a big role in his team's success. Augie Hicks got the save, his 11th in 16 chances. Chicago goes to 64-55, New York to 62-58.

Chicago took a 2-0 lead on Alford's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off John Alfano in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Chicago to the win.

"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped New York manager Jim Abernathy. "Obviously."
