Wolves Trip Kings, 3-2, in Extra Innings | The Kansas City Kings could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jack Halbur into a win. Instead, the Toronto Wolves prevailed, 3-2, in 10 innings. Halbur threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Toronto reliever Jim Jackson picked up the win to move to 1-1. Henry Henderson suffered the loss. The win hiked the Toronto record to 59-59.
Dixie Williams came through with a big-time hit for Toronto. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Williams. | |
