| Chiefs Score Late, Clip Clippers, 2-1 | Chicago turned a good effort from starter Frank Carmichael into a win over the Baltimore Clippers at Whitney Park. The final score was 2-1. Hal Alsip came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-5. The setback makes Baltimore 61-57.
The decisive blow was delivered in the bottom of the ninth when Babe Thornton hit a run-scoring double off three-time All-Star Larry Warren to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went wild.
Carmichael attributed the win to "making big pitches in big moments."
