The Boston Minutemen defeated the Pittsburgh Miners, 10-2, at Minuteman Stadium. Boston was led by 28-year old center fielder Andy Nevill, who went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Bob Hollister got the win, improving to 9-10. He held the Miners to 2 runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 4. The 7th-place Minutemen are 63-83.

With Boston leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Nevill came up to bat against Pittsburgh pitcher Mike Blackham. Nevill hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Minutemen on top, 7-2.
