| Dynamos Handed 6-4 Loss by Atlanta | The Atlanta Copperheads picked up a win at Peachtree Stadium, topping the Detroit Dynamos, 6-4. On the mound for Atlanta was left-hander Howie Burt. He played a principal role in the triumph. Ike Abraham earned the save for Atlanta, his 5th of the year. With the win, Atlanta upped its record to 73-44.
In the bottom of the 1st, Atlanta took the lead on a 2-run single by Jim Duchesne. At the time, the Copperheads were trailing 2-1, but Duchesne's hit with two outs against Detroit pitcher Paddy Williamson put them in front, 3-2.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Burt. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
