Washington Rallies to 5-3 Win
The Minneapolis Millers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Hank Wagner into a win. Instead, the Washington Eagles prevailed, 5-3. Wagner threw 8.0 innings allowing 4 runs. The winner was Washington reliever Doc Lindley, now 4-8. The loser was Hank Wagner. Roy McDonald notched his 5th save of the season.

Washington used the timely hitting of Joe Cantrell to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eagles on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Cantrell. "It sure beats the alternative."

With the win, Washington goes to 57-62, while the Millers fall to 54-63.
