Chicago Wins, 6-5, in 12 Innings | The Chicago Chiefs, with some walk-off drama, delighted their fans at Whitney Park.
The Chicago Chiefs defeated the Washington Eagles, 6-5, in 12 innings. Ed Hester, who finished 5th in the CA in doubles with 38 in 1954, played a big role. Hester went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Chiefs in the win. Chicago is now 67-79.
The Chiefs got a clutch hit from shortstop Bill Scott. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Chiefs.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Hester. | |
