| St. Louis Grabs 9-4 Road Win | Behind a solid performance from third baseman Del Jacobs, the St. Louis Pioneers defeated the Philadelphia Keystones, 9-4. Jacobs was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the Pioneers. Frank Davis, the winner, improved to 5-8. He held the Keystones to 4 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 5. The setback makes Philadelphia 52-64.
St. Louis used a well-timed hit by John Richards to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pioneers ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.
"We took home the win," said Richards. "What's not to like?"
