| Kings Clip Imperials, 2-1 | In a low-scoring contest between the Kansas City Kings and the New York Imperials, Beau McClellan, who finished 5th in the CA in strikeouts with 179 in 1959, proved to be the difference. The Kansas City left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Kings win. McClellan, now 11-9, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The Kings have an impressive 78-36 record.
Kansas City used a timely hit from Ben Crawford to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kings ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"Time to decompress after a tough win," said Crawford.
