In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, the Cannons hiked their record to 41-30.
The Cannons got a big at-bat from left fielder Bonnie Chapin. For the game, Chapin went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 20th double of the season gave Cincinnati a 4-2 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Cincinnati manager Buddy Baumgart. "It's usually not just one thing." | |
