The Boston Minutemen converted a terrific effort from starter Bob Scott into a win over the Detroit Dynamos at Minuteman Stadium. The Minutemen won the game by a final score of 1-0. Scott, the winner, moves to 4-2. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks. Bud Shireman picked up the save for Boston, his 20th of the year.

Dick Ward cracked a home run off Jack Williams in the bottom of the third. His solo blast put the Minutemen on top, 1-0. In all, Ward had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 4.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ward. "And not try to do too much."

With the win, Boston raised its record to 65-50.
