Wolves Roll to 8-2 Win Over Saints | Toronto got a strong outing from Bill Medley as the Wolves defeated the Montreal Saints, 8-2, at Dominion Stadium. Toronto currently is in 6th place in the Continental Association at 56-57.
Dixie Williams had a big 2-run double for the Wolves in the bottom of the third inning. With Toronto leading 3-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Phil Murry, who finished 4th in the CA in wins with 17 in 1959, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolves ahead, 5-1.
"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager Johnny Gilbert. | |
