| Mavericks Roll Over Imperials, 9-4 | A good performance from first baseman Chuck Cohen helped the Kansas City Mavericks defeat the New York Imperials, 9-4. Cohen was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 for the Mavericks. Dave Dalton was the winner. He's now 6-9. The loser was fan favorite John Alfano. The win has Kansas City at 47-69.
Tony Keil went 1-4 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Kansas City. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a 2-run single off John Alfano. It was his 107th hit of the season.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Kansas City skipper Bob Bendick.
