| Gothams Get Dramatic 6-5 Triumph | The New York Gothams weathered an outstanding game by Atlanta shortstop John Newton to topple the Copperheads, 6-5. Newton was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Gothams improved their record to 52-62 by beating Atlanta.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New York left fielder Ed Davis, facing Ike Abraham, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Gothams the 6-5 win.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Davis told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going." | |
