| West Strokes 5 Hits | It was a high-five day for Billy West, at least for a while.
The Cincinnati left fielder got plenty of them from his teammates when he reached the five-hit milestone during today's game against the Montreal Saints, but they were in short supply at the end, as Montreal won the game, 6-5. West finished with an impressive 5-for-5 line, but the Cannons couldn't hold off the Saints.
"Billy was hitting everything," said Cannons manager Charlie Britton. "It's too bad the other guys couldn't rise to the occasion."
Billy West singled in the 1st, tripled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off George Williams in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, West has delivered 130 hits in 417 at-bats for a .312 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .385 clip and his totals also include 48 RBIs and 63 runs scored. This year West has played in 110 games. | |
