| Keystones Score Late, Clip Miners, 5-4 | The Philadelphia Keystones topped the Pittsburgh Miners, 5-4, in Federal Association action at Broad Street Park II. The game was highlighted by the performance of Philadelphia pitcher Joe Kienle. The Keystones sit in first place in the Federal Association with a record of 86-53.
Buddy Miller, who finished 2nd in the FA in slugging percentage with .581 in 1956, took Pittsburgh hurler George Kollock deep in the bottom of the eighth. His solo home run put the Keystones on top, 5-4. In all, Miller had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"I was a little disappointed," said Pittsburgh manager Clyde Mathews. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
