| Millers Curb Pioneers, 6-1 | Hub Huffman, who is tied for 8th in the FA in wins with 11, was locked in. The right-hander led the Minneapolis Millers to a 6-1 win against the St. Louis Pioneers at Pioneer Field III. Huffman, now 11-6, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The 4th-place Millers now have a record of 52-61.
Minneapolis used a clutch at-bat from Carl Kilkenny to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Millers ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Hub is a gamer," said Minneapolis manager Harry Hammond.
