Alford Sizzles in No-Hitter
The Kansas City Mavericks had no answer for pitcher Roger Alford and the Chicago Cougars. Alford tossed a no-hitter against the Mavericks, totaling 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in an impressive 3-0 win at Prairie Park.

"Everything was working today," he told reporters following the game. "I had excellent location and great movement on my pitches. Good things happen when all of it comes together like that."

The Kansas City clubhouse emptied out quickly following the game. Mavericks skipper Sakan Hashizume joked that it was "as silent as our bats were today."

"I don't have much to say to you guys right now," he told BNN reporters. "I'm speechless after that performance."

This year, Alford has fanned 99 in 199.1 innings and collected a 14-7 record with a 2.17 ERA.
