| Keystones Nip Clippers, 5-4 | Baltimore got a valiant performance from pitcher Pat Fortier, but it wasn't enough to beat the Philadelphia Keystones. Philadelphia won the game, 5-4. Fortier threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Philadelphia reliever Jim Steuber snagged the win, upping his record to 9-5. Charlie Platt shouldered the loss. Jack Peck nailed down his 4th save.
Leon Stapleton hit a 2-run double off Charlie Platt in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Keystones in front, 4-3. In addition to the double, Stapleton had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Stapleton.
The Keystones sit in 5th place in the Federal Association East with a record of 55-59. | |
